Studying VCE Units 3 and 4 in year 11

Shelford offers a number of VCE Units 3 and 4 subjects to Year 11 students. Enrolment in a Unit 3 and 4 subject is not automatic. Students will be counselled and receive further advice regarding their expression of interest.

What does it mean to do a Unit 3 and 4 subject in Year 11 instead of a Unit 1 and 2 subject?

The student is recommended by her teachers and selected to study a Year 12 subject. She joins the Year 12 class of students in order to complete all the work set for that subject. On completion of the course of study her results are added to her results from her Year 12 studies. In effect, she completes 6 subjects over 2 years - instead of the usual 5 in 1 year.
